This is the part where some stories pivot to forgiveness, as if closure were a ceremonial bridge you must cross to be allowed into your own life. Mine did not. Forgiveness is not a currency I’m required to spend to prove I have matured. All that is required is the boundary that holds.
The Weston Fund took shape the way most useful things do: less as an inspiration than as a schedule. Tara and I dedicated Wednesday evenings, 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., to the work that would build the work—bylaws, banking, insurance, the skeletal pieces that keep an idea upright. On Thursdays we drafted the packet we nicknamed “3:12 a.m.”—because that is when panic feels loudest and specificity can cut through it. We refused to turn our packet into a manifesto. We made it a manual.
